BT and Sky have agreed that BT Vision customers will be able to Watch Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 in time for the new domestic football season.

BT VisionAlbeit perhaps not enough to counter the disaster that saw England our of the World Cup at the weekend this is great news for football fans, meaning that BT broadband customers will be able to watch Premiership football without signing up for an additional provider.

Virgin Media of course recently announced lower pricing of its Sky Sports packages in time for the new football season.

BT haven’t yet announced their prices for the Sky Sports packages although they are saying they will be competing strongly on price.

The deal between Sky and BT comes after Ofcom ruled that Sky would have to cut the price it charged others to show its premium sports channels. Sky currently has some 85% of the market.

Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT Retail, says: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone, which means that we can be certain of offering Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 to our customers before the football season kicks off.  We know our customers will be keen to sign up for the two channels.”
