Low-income families need to be quick to secure one of the 10,000 grants still available to buy a computer.
Nearly 250,000 households have been given a computer to help their children with school work. The Home Access programme was set up after it emerged GCSE pupils with net access had better grades.
To qualify for a Home Access grant you must have a child in years 3 to 9 at a state school in England and an income of less than £16,190. You could also benefit under the scheme if your child has free school meals or you receive income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support or Child Tax Credit. But be quick!
Home Access says: “The Home Access has been very successful with less than 10,000 grants left to award. We would strongly encourage any families with an application form at home to complete it and send it back immediately.”
In addition there are 12,000 computer grants for children with severe disabilities or special educational needs.
To apply call the Home Access helpline on 0333 200 1004 or find out more at their website.
