Relaxing with the laptop It is becoming increasingly important that consumers pick the best fast connection broadband provider, as online habits are rapidly changing.

That's the opinion of Michael Phillips, product director of Broadband Choices, who revealed that consumers are increasingly demanding faster broadband connections to allow them to make use of the newest online technologies.

In addition, Mr Phillips said that high-profile advertising campaigns from fast connection broadband providers had further increased consumer demand for such services.

"In terms of broadband I think that consumers have become more demanding as advertisers set out messages which tell them that they can have things with fast download speeds.

"Ten years ago people were only just getting used to using email and now we’re trying to send large files with our email.

"As soon as we get used to the benefits of something we just want far more from it than was probably ever initially envisaged."

However, Mr Phillips warned that there was a risk that fast connection broadband providers were constantly unable to deliver the speeds they promised.

"In relation to the speeds that customers are actually getting and how they’re advertised, the gap between the two is normally at least 50 per cent in the fastest packages," he concluded.
