Consumers 'should consider factors other than price when picking broadband'

An industry expert has said that consumers should consider paying slightly more if they want to secure the best value broadband provider.Michael Phillips, product director with Broadband Choices, explained that many broadband providers were solely competing on price and this meant that some had cut back on their customer service levels.
"What you then end up with is a situation where you've got disappointed customers and ISPs which we've seen probably haven't got the best service packages for their price point," he explained.
Instead, Mr Phillips said that consumers who wanted to benefit from the best value broadband providers should be prepared to look at factors other than price.
"Certainly I would encourage all consumers to take into account the findings of our survey and potentially pay more for their broadband to get a better customer service experience.
"If broadband doesn't work then it's pointless having it."
