Medical tourists 'need to remember insurance'

Around one in three holidaymakers are not paying full attention to their travel insurance policies, the Post Office has revealed.A recent study of UK tourists demonstrated that 25,000 people set off on holiday without the level of medical insurance cover they require.
What's more, the research showed that an increasing number of Britons are heading abroad in search of cheaper medical treatment, whether for health or cosmetic reasons.
However, 36 per cent of these 'medical tourists' are not properly checking whether they are fully covered to undergo these procedures abroad, the firm warned.
Helen Warburton, head of Post Office Travel Services, commented: "It's important to check exactly what the specialist insurance covers over and above medical treatment.
"Travellers may still require traditional travel insurance to cover any potential lost baggage, delayed flights or flight cancellation."
Holiday makers travelling during the current unsettled weather conditions have also been urged by specialist provider RIAS to makes sure they take out travel insurance.
