Virgin tops list of fast connection broadband providers

New research has suggested that Virgin Media was the fast connection broadband provider that performed best last month.Figures released by BroadbandChoices.co.uk showed that Virgin Media offers consumers an average speed of 11Mb and that customers were typically enjoying 55.1 per cent of their promised speed.
In contrast, another fast connection broadband provider, Be Broadband, promised the fastest speeds (20.9Mb) on the market, but that the average customer only received 33.4 per cent of this speed.
The only other fast connection broadband provider to register speeds in excess of 8Mb was Sky Broadband.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, explained that super fast broadband speeds were harder to deliver on than slower connections.
"However, as well as trialling speeds of up to 50Mb, Virgin Media has started a process of upgrading all of its 4Mb customers to 10Mb connections for free, and this will definitely improve speeds for many people on the company’s fast, reliable cable network," he concluded.
