Women 'need comprehensive car insurance to cover personal items'

Women in the UK need to make sure they have comprehensive car insurance which covers items inside their vehicles, a new report has warned.Data from Sheilas' Wheels showed that women in the UK typically leave £129 worth of personal items inside their motors, suggested that fully comprehensive car insurance could be necessary.
In particular, the report said that a growing 'after work' culture meant that 27 per cent of women were increasingly leaving expensive shoes and clothes in their vehicles.
What's more, 67 per cent of female motorists said they leave up to four pairs of shoes in their car at any one time.
"Any personal belongings, whatever their value, that are left unattended in a car can be easy pickings for opportunistic thieves," commented Jacky Brown at Sheilas' Wheels.
"To avoid a smashed window or a broken lock, we want to encourage all women to avoid using their car as a wardrobe on wheels and leaving anything strewn over the back seat, on display."
New figures from uSwitch showed that the average car insurance premium in the UK has increased from £594 in 2007 to £629 this year.
