credit card Consumers should not have to provide any extra evidence to credit card issuers when they claim for money lost while shopping overseas.

According to for APACS, the UK trade association for the payments sector, the credit card company should already have a record of the transaction on the statement, "so they [the consumer] would just have to flag it up with their card company and they would tell them what they need to do".

Referring to section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, under which the House of Lords ruled in October that UK consumers would continue to be protected when purchasing goods between the value of £100 and £30,000 overseas on their credit cards, Spokesperson Mark Bowerman said their needed to be clarity.

He stressed that section 75 only covers money lost through transactions by the card holder and should not be confused with protection against losses sustained through credit card fraud.
