Drivers should be covered 'for all eventualities'
Published On 17 January 2008
Drivers should make sure that their insurance covers them for all possible incidences, no matter how unlikely. This is according to the AA, which has today (January 17th) revealed a whole range of peculiar car insurance claims among the 180,000 that it received over the course of 2007.
Alongside conventional incidences such as collision and theft, the car insurance broker received claims for damages caused by livestock, barking dogs and flying fruit.
One of the more unusual claims involved a car bonnet being struck by "several airborne shopping trolleys" which had fallen off a delivery lorry.
Commenting on the findings, Janet Pell, head of AA car insurance, said: "We're used to seeing the countless conventional claims for car damage but it's always interesting to hear the more bizarre claims people make."
Ms Pell added: "It just goes to show, you need to ensure you're covered for all eventualities, however far-fetched they might seem."
