Skiers warned over insurance

People heading overseas to make the most of the winter weather on the slopes have been urged to ensure they know what they are insured for.Perry Wilson, spokesperson for InsureandGo, said that often holidaymakers "forget about certain things at altitude", such as how alcohol might affect them.
"You're on holiday, everyone likes a drink, but people have got to do it in moderation," he said. "When you're combining alcohol with a dangerous sport, like skiing, you can cause a lot of damage to people."
Some 11 per cent of people who have skied or snowboarded have done so while drunk, according to InsureandGo figures, with 19 per cent admitting having an accident as a result.
Being classed as "under the influence of alcohol" could have implications for an insurance policy, Mr Wilson warned.
"There is an issue of responsibility on every insurance policy," he said. "If you have insurance, you must act responsibly and not take risks that would be outside it."
