Homeowners in the UK are being warned to make sure their property is protected from thieves over the Christmas period.According to research from Bradford & Bingley, 76,000 houses are targeted by intruders during the holiday.
A recent study from Halifax forecast that shoppers would spend a total of £11.9 billion of gifts this year, almost £400 per adult.
"With so much money and effort invested in the Christmas period, people should make sure that they don't overlook the necessity of protecting their home and its contents from unwanted visitors," said Dave Foyle from Bradford & Bingley.
"Christmas should be a fun time of the year - by making sure that you have adequate home insurance cover in place, you can enjoy the festive season in the knowledge that the contents of your home are protected should the worst happen."
Halifax also warned recently almost a fifth of households will be away from home at some point over Christmas, which could leave them vulnerable to burglary.
