Travel insurance provides people heading off on short breaks with peace of mind and lets them enjoy their holiday, an industry expert has said.Carol Richardson, the PR manager for Confetti, said that more and more people were opting to travel abroad for stag and hen parties and that it was simply "not worth having things spoilt" by not opting for travel insurance.
She added: "You never know when things are going to go wrong, unfortunately. And it's just not worth it these days.
"With the erratic weather that we're having and situations at airports across the world, it's well worth taking out insurance, just for peace of mind."
A recent report from Norwich Union suggested that as many as a quarter of holidaymakers went away without taking out any insurance.
It was revealed that people going on short breaks were particularly likely to forgo insurance when going on holiday.
Luis Berraondo, a travel underwriter at Norwich Union, said at the time: "Holidaymakers put a lot of time and effort into their holiday, from which hotel or villa to stay in to which airline and what baggage to take with them, but our research shows that often they don't think about the consequences both financially and emotionally, if things go wrong."
