The company has run full-page newspaper ads apologising for the mishap and supplying a phone number that motorists who have had their vehicles damaged by the bad petrol can call.
Tesco has also reassured drivers that its tanks have been emptied, cleaned and resupplied with fresh petrol.
Over one million motorists were affected by the contaminated petrol, which was sold primarily at Morrisons, Tesco and Vopak pumping stations.
Greenergy, which supplies Tesco with petrol, has stated that it has found excess levels of silicon in its tanks.
Tesco has denied reports that it knew about the contamination several days before the news broke, but failed to inform motorists.
The Trading Standards Institute has stated that silicon has been found in some of the vehicles which sustained damage after using the petrol.
