Pet insurance a priority for puppy lovers

puppies It seems a number of Brits may be focussing on their beloved pets and a suitable insurance policy as new research shows partners will take a backseat this Valentine's Day.

In fact, 34 per cent of people stated they would rather curl up on the sofa with their pet dog or cat rather than their partner, according to Swiftcover.

On top of this, 18 per cent of pet owners told the survey they would rather live with their precious animal rather than their current boyfriend or girlfriend.

And with so much love foisted upon the nation's animals it's no surprise that pet owners are increasingly seeking out the best insurance policy to cover their furry friends.

Tina Shortle. Swiftcover spokeswoman, said: "It seems some people's pet may be more pampered than their partners this Valentine's Day as traditional romance is replaced with spending quality time with our pets.

"Brits are well known for being animal lovers, but preferring to spend time cuddled up with the dog or cat over a partner reveals man's best friend is the primary object of many people's affections, with gifts and pampering sessions lavished on their pooches rather than their Valentine."

Interestingly, it is southerners who place the most love and affection with their pets – 20 per cent said they prefer their pet to their partner compared to 17 per cent in the south-west.
