One in ten lies to partners about finances

One in ten British consumers lies to their partners about finances, according to a new survey. Research from the new CreditExpert Personal Credit Index found that financial stresses and strains are causing one on four couples (26 per cent) to argue and one in 20 to split up.
Across the UK, this equates to over two million Brits adversely affected by financial strains on their relationships.
And according to the survey, it was the 18 to 34 age range who were most likely to argue about their finances.
Jim Hodgkins, CreditExpert managing director, said: "The Index underlines just how many couples in Britain argue and in some cases split up, over their finances. It's hardly surprising that 18-34 year olds – those most likely to be first-time buyers in the property market – feel the pinch and argue the most.
"As the Index reveals, it has never been more important to keep on top of your financial situation – if you feel worried about your level of borrowing, then your partner will pick up on it and feel worried too."
