Brits may be financially savvier than some debt figures suggest with a new study revealing that two thirds of consumers have savings and investments. A new report by CreditExpert also discovered that 51 per cent of Brits say they are always in control of their personal finances.
Some 1,500 Brits were questioned in the survey with the results finding that men were twice as likely with 32 per cent to have a variety of savings and investments when compared to women with just 16 per cent.
Men also came out on top in the pound saver stakes with almost one in three (58 per cent) claiming to be good at money management compared to only 45 per cent of women.
Women, however, came out top in the weekend spender category with 47 per cent admitting they often saw their finances lapse at the weekend, which compared to just 35 per cent of men who said this was also the case.
Jim Hodgkins, CreditExpert managing director, said: "It's encouraging to see that the majority of Brits claim to be financially savvy and careful with how they spend their money.
"It's important to remember that no matter what kind of financial planner you are, it pays to keep tabs on your credit status, whatever your financial traits, as your behaviour and any decisions made now can affect your future borrowing power."
