Half of holidaymakers book break in January
Published On 17 January 2007
With the cold January weather settling in it seems many holidaymakers are already dreaming of their summer sun as 54 per cent have already booked their summer break.According to the new study by Yorkshire Bank, there is a trend for Brits to book their summer holidays while prices are currently low.
As well as longer holiday, 27 per cent of Brits will book multiple European weekend city breaks early this year.
In fact, despite January traditionally being a financially tight month 33 per cent of people will head to travel agents with their credit card in tow.
Gary Lumby, Yorkshire Bank's head of retail, said: "With Brits working the longest hours in Europe, it's understandable to find they are treating themselves to more and more holidays in order to relax.
"However, what they must be careful of is not being blinded by the cheap deals and overstretching themselves financially.
"Those planning credit card holiday purchases should ensure they keep up their monthly payments or spread the cost over the year in manageable amounts. If they don't, they may find the bargain holiday more expensive than first thought."
