Financial resolutions for a third of consumers
Published On 28 December 2006
A third of consumers intend to make financial resolutions this New Year's Eve, according to new research.Data from F&C Asset Management has found that 33 per cent of people resolve to alter their finances for the better in the new year.
The survey also discovered that 70 per cent of the public feel that the government is currently not doing enough to encourage people to save money.
On top of this, it seems the majority of the public favour an increase in the ISA allowance to £10,000 at the next Budget meeting.
Jason Hollands, F&C director, said: "Our research shows that the tradition of making new year resolutions remains strong despite the fact that almost half of those intending to make them – some 45 per cent – really admit that they are unlikely to keep them beyond January and only 17 per cent are confident that they will stick to their guns throughout 2007."
Some 63 per cent of the public said they were concerned that they "spend too much and don't save enough".
