British consumers could see their fuel bills fall by £300 simply by switching to a new provider, research has shown.Figures from website www.fool.co.uk have shown that around 11 million houses in the UK have never changed their energy supplier despite the massive savings potential in doing so.
Of the smaller number of savvy consumers who have switched, 24 per cent have saved up to £100 while 19 per cent saved between £100 and £200 and six per cent saved a sizeable £300.
David Kuo, company spokesman, said: "There are savings to be made if you have never switched energy providers.
"The UK energy market is one of the most competitive. But for competition to work consumers need to force the issue and make providers fight for their business. And switching provides today is just a mouse click away.
"Failure to switch is tantamount to sitting in front of the fire wearing a woolly hat and jumper and moaning about soaring energy prices while chucking £10 notes into the flames."
