Nationwide mortgages receive platinum award

Nationwide's mortgage division has received a major award from a leading body.Nationwide received a platinum accolade at the Lex awards, which were organised by research consultants Capital Blue and Lending Strategy magazine.
The awards are based on a survey of some 7,800 mortgage customers, who rate firms' performances in various areas, including features of key services, satisfaction ratings and performance.
The firm received the platinum award in the key service features and customer experience categories.
Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director, commented: "We are delighted to be the only high street lender to have been awarded the platinum rating for our mortgage products and service in the new Lex Awards.
"This is confirmation of how competitive our mortgages are within the market, directly from the people that matter the most - consumers."
Rival lender Abbey has caused a big stir in the mortgage market this week by offering customers a mortgage of up to five times a salary.
