Halifax is offering new mortgage customers a great house-warming present by paying towards home energy bills.
With last year being the coldest for 30 years, and as dark nights set in and cause UK households to switch on their central heating, Halifax has come up with an interesting mortgage offer.
It will help borrowers by contributing £500 towards their home energy bills, helping them keep their homes warm this autumn.
Stephen Noakes, commercial director of mortgages at Halifax, commented “We are committed to helping make homeownership easier for first time buyers, homemovers and remortgagers alike.
There are numerous costs incurred with setting up or running a home and energy bills usually represent a significant chunk of household’s monthly outgoings.”
Customers who take out a new mortgage or remortgage between 4 October and 5 November 2010 are able to benefit. The offer can be claimed within 6 months of a new mortgage completing and it is available on all Halifax First Time Buyer, Homemover and Remortgage products.
Cash will not be paid under the offer to the borrower, rather the money will be paid directly to the energy supplier on provision of a current utility bill.
