Tesco launches £6 sim only mobile phone deal

Tesco has launched the cheapest mobile phone contract offering unlimited texts for just £6 per month.

Tesco Mobile is set to shake the mobile world by offering the cheapest UK mobile phone contract. For a mere £6 per month, the consumer is offered unlimited texts and no long-term commitment.

Ernest Doku, communications expert at uSwitch.com, says: “This deal screams value. Tesco Mobile is a proven success in the ‘no-frills’ sector, already selling plenty in the prepay space and adopting a similar tack with its first pay monthly efforts. There is a slight sting in the tail – it costs £4 per MB for downloading data, so it could prove costly if you do a lot of this. As always, read the small print closely before signing up to any deal. If you want a straightforward SIM-only deal, but with capacity for more downloading, it might be worth looking at the £10 a month O2 Simplicity tariff offering 500MB of data per month.
