Mobile Phone Bills On Paper No Longer Free

Free paper itemised mobile phone bills are now a thing of the past as T-Mobile joins the other providers and charges a monthly fee for this luxury.
T-Mobile will now charge those customers receiving their bills by post will have to pay £1 a month for the privilege.
Comparatively this is cheaper than other providers. Orange for example charge £1.54 per month.
Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch.com, comments: “Paper bills are fast becoming a luxury that many consumers can no longer afford. £1 a month may not seem like much, but for many this is simply money down the drain.
There are benefits to receiving bills online, both financially and environmentally, but it’s important that customers continue to check their bill rigorously every month when the text alert comes through.
The last options left for customers still wanting to get a bill in the post are either Three or Vodafone, who both offer a bill summary on paper for free – for the time being at least.”
T-Mobile customers who want to avoid the £1 a month charge can go online and opt for electronic billing. Customers that do nothing will be charged from their next phone bill.
According to uSwitch.com network charges for paper billing as at 1 March 2011 are:
| Network | Paper summary | Full itemised paper bill |
| T-Mobile | £1 a month | £1 a month |
| Orange | £1.54 a month | £1.54 a month |
| O2 | £1 on request (Not available for iPhone customers) | £1 on request (Not available for iPhone customers) |
| Tesco Mobile | Not available | Not available |
| Three | Free | £1.50 a month |
| Virgin Mobile | £1.25 a month | £1.25 a month |
| Vodafone | Free | £1.50 a month |
Whilst some 75% of customers already receive their bills electronically, nearly 15% of these never check them!
