Your collection of modern antiques, signed books or perhaps your early edition games consoles, such as the Atari, could be worth hundreds of pounds. Are they though? And does your home insurance cover them? We take a look.

Home Insurance collectionHave you got a collection of vintage ladybird books for example, perhaps passed to you by your parents or grandparents? Did you know that some of these can fetch £10+ each, even on eBay?

What about the old Sinclair ZX81 in the loft or even an orginal Etch-A-Sketch? A good Sinclair ZX80 could sell for hundreds of pounds.

Rather as having a wine collection is becoming more popular, so too is collecting in general.

Whether the accidental collector or the avid collector of all things from modern antiques, ‘kitchenalia’, to some mass produced items if kept long enough in good condition, your collections could be worth a small fortune.

Maybe it’s time to investigate the value of your collection and investigate your home insurance too? Do you have enough home contents insurance in place?

If your collection is quite valuable it’s quite possible that a standard home contents insurance policy will not be sufficient. In this case, it could be well worth looking at a specialist or high net worth home insurance policy.
