Women be careful of that accidental damage

Women turning to indoor exercise might be doing their bodies a lot of good but the rise in accidental damage to the home and home insurance claims as a result is staggering.

Home InsuranceAccording to research by Sheilas’ Wheels home insurance, 20% of women polled admitted they’d had an accident whilst trying to exercise in the confined space of their home.

As much as ‘staying in’ is the new ‘going out’, it now seems working ‘in’ is the new working ‘out’.

43% of women now own or live with someone who owns a motion controlled console like the Wii.

Put into perspective, in contrast only 28% have a gym membership or have had one in the last year.

On average, a gym membership now costs nearly £800 a year. So no wonder working ‘in’ is popular as it can clearly save money.

However, if you’re not careful it could cost more than you bargained for!

Whether it’s tripping over the floor or rug or smashing windows or the TV screen whilst exercising at home, clearly some preventative steps need to be taken as well as making sure you have adequate home insurance which includes accidental damage cover.

Sheilas Wheels suggests

  • make sure your exercise space is clear
  • stand away from the TV and/or windows
  • make sure ther are no pets, or children, in the room whilst you exercise

There’s also the point of making sure you get the best home insurance and are covered should you end up causing some damage.

Sheilas Wheels and others provide good home insurance.
