Vodafone UK is to abolish roaming mobile phone call charges this summer.
This move by Vodafone, the first by a mobile phone operator, means customers will not be charged extra for calling from European countries this Summer.
Between 1 June and 31 August, Vodafone customers will be able to talk, text and send picture messages from European countries for the same price as if they were at home in th UK.
The whole issue of roaming mobile phone call charges has been the subject of EU scrutiny.
The cost of roaming calling and texting has fallen, but this is a great move by Vodafone to remove the roaming charges althogether.
Vodafone customers will simply need to join the Vodafone Passport deal to benefit from this offer.
For the hundreds of thousands off on holiday across Europe this summer, the offer will no doubt significantly save money. Much needed in this time of recession.
In another move, Vodafone is also reducing the cost of calls from UK pay as you go mobiles to other mobile and landlines overseas.
If you are travelling abroad this summer, as well as taking advantage of the Vodafone offer, don’t forget to also consider your foreign currency needs.
