Virgin Media is to launch an unlimited music download subscription service, recognising the growing demand for access to online music.
Virgin Media is working with Universal Music to deliver this world first music download subscription service.
It will mean that Virgin Media broadband customers will be able to stream and download as many music tracks and albums as they want from Universal Music’s entire music catalog.
There will be a monthly subscription fee to use the service but the downloaded music can then be kept permanently on any MP3 compatible device.
In addition to the unlimited download service, there will be an ‘entry level’ for those who download music regularly but not at a level that would justify use of the unlimited service.
The new service is set to launch later this year.
Virgin Media is also negotiating with other UK major and independent music labels and publishers to ensure it can offer a wide reaching and compelling catalog for download at the time of the launch.
Neil Berkett, CEO at Virgin Media, commented ‘In terms of both convenience and value, our new music service will be superior to anything that’s available online today and provides a fair deal for both consumers and artisits.’
There are currently some great broadband deals at Virgin Media, particularly those within broadband bundles which you may find useful to check out.
