uSwitch.com is working with the RFU and local rugby clubs to give cashback if you switch energy supplier to a cheaper provider.
This innovative move means that around 1,500 participating rugby clubs will get cashback for every member, friend or supporter who does switch energy supplier using a special uSwitch/RFU website page.
Marketing work for the scheme is underway with the fundraising starting in September.
You can still use uSwitch.com to compare energy deals and save up to £350 for switching household energy.
Marketing director at uSwitch, Steve Weller, commented, ‘This is a win-win for consumers and grassroots rugby. Usually, with schemes like this, consumers have to spend money, but with our initiative they actually save money on their household bills while still raising vital funds for the rugby club of their choice.’
If fans want to take part but don’t have a particular allegiance to a local rugby club they can opt to support the English national rugby team.
Funds will be pooled and distributed by the RFU.
Clubs can spend the cash as they wish – on new kit, training equipment etc – and there’s no upper limit on the amount of money that can be raised.
