Scottish and Southern have today launched a new energy plan, the ‘Altlantic Online Fixed Price’, which is the best offering of the ‘Big 6′ energy suppliers in four of the UK energy regions. Is it time to switch energy supplier?

Scottish and Southern energy planThe new online energy plan has a fixed rate until 31 August 2011 and it doesn’t have any standing charge, meaning customers only pay for the energy that they use.

With the energy suppliers competing strongly for new business, there are often good incentives and cheaper energy prices offered to entice you to switch.

It really is easy to switch energy supplier, perhaps easier than you might think.

Energy plan comparison services, such as that offered by uSwitch.com or Confused.com, enable you to get the best energy plan in your region to meet your needs and if you want to switch, do all the work for you.

As you consider your energy needs, do consider a dual fuel plan. It can have benefits.

Critically it’s usually cheaper (but not always,) and as you’ve only then got one point of contact for both your gas and electricity suppliers it’s and more convenient for you – you’ll only get bills from one company and if you have any queries or complaints you’ll only have one supplier to deal with.

You do need to check out the best deal for your own circumstances, but just to mention, Scottish Power are currently offering £30 cash back to customers who sign up and successfully switch both their gas and electricity to Scottish Power’s Online energy saver 7 tariff (£15 per utility) with Confused.com.
