Electricty customers will see their average price fall by 9% whilst for gas customers the fall be 4%.

Scottish and Southern supplies energy as Southern Electric, SWALEC, Scottish Hydro Electric and Atlantic.

This is the first time that Scottish and Southern have dropped their domestic energy prices since March 2007. It follows the falls in wholesale energy prices since the middle of last year.

Scottish and Southern claim that following this price reduction, their ‘dual fuel’ customers will typically pay £66 less per annum.

British Gas has recently announced that they will be cutting the price of their standard tariff gas on 19 February. It says this price fall will benefit some 7.5 million customers.
