Many of us leave electrical appliances on standby but they can still use energy, meaning we’re missing an opportunity to both save money on energy bills and help the environment.
According to Tescocompare.com, just by unplugging gadgets and electrical appliances whilst on a 2 week holiday could save an average of £14 – or £1 per day.
It might not be much but it all adds up, particularly when combined with making sure you have the best energy deals to suit your needs.
You can compare energy deals with comparison websites such as Tescocompare.com and uSwitch.com.
Some helpful tips from Tescocompare to help save on your energy bills:
Unplug the following – DVD players, HiFis and radios, TVs and Computers and printers
Switch off the following – Microwave, Dishwasher, Electric boilers and Electric towel rails
If possible consider turning off the fridge/freezer too – that is as long as you can empty them before you go away!
