The nation''s cash ISA savings habits have been analysed by Halifax for a new study.
According to the report, the biggest cash ISA savings can be found in Epsom and Ewell, where the average account holds £9,343 – well up on the typical national balance of just under £7,000.
Halifax also said that, when average earnings in each area were factored in, Christchurch came out on top.
The Dorset savers had £8,565 put by in their ISAs – around 45 per cent of gross annual earnings.
Regionally, the Welsh were found to have put the most by when the figures were earnings-adjusted.
Londoners came out bottom, however – perhaps due to it being the region with the most expensive living costs in the UK.
Martin Ellis, chief economist at Halifax, commented: "The level of savings invested in ISAs varies significantly across the country.
"Everyone has an annual allowance of £3,600 to place in a cash ISA, which will earn interest free of tax."
