Mobile phone provider Orange UK has teamed up with Barclaycard to launch the “Orange Credit Card,” a contactless credit card designed to help the users of the network to make contactless mobile payment.
The Orange Credit card offers a lot of services tied in with your mobile phone. It uses extremely short-range wireless communications instead of the regular magnetic strip used in most cards. This eliminates the need to swipe your card through a reader and you just wave it in the air close to the reader.
The card allows users to pay for small items under £10. So if you’re just buying a small item you only need to wave-and-go, with no need to enter PINs or anything.
Also, Orange UK boasts that the new card would also help keep user keep a record about their spending habits.
Orange will send its users their weekly balance, as well as details of their credit limits. The user can also manage their cards anywhere by restricting the use of the cards either online or by sending an SMS to the company.
Because the user can limit the spending on the card, overspending can be avoided as transactions above the credit limit will be immediately declined.
The user will immediately receive an SMS notification from Orange every time the card is used. Or, the customer can customise the alerts so you can receive an alert every time the card is used, or just when money over a certain threshold is spent. You can even cancel a transaction through your phone if you don’t want it to go through.
Orange said this is very helpful in setting up strict budgets for the user.
As an added bonus, the Orange Credit Card gives the user special access to the tickets to England Rugby, Glastonbury events, as well as substantial discounts on various Orange mobile products.
