Oktoberfest, the beer festival held in Munich, Germany, starts on 19 September, – if you’re going have you got your travel money and travel insurance sorted out?
Oktoberfest started in 1810 with ongoing festivities to celebrate the wedding of Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildenburghausen.
More than 6 million people attend the Oktoberfest each year and a staggering 20 million bottles of beer are consumed.
This year a litre of beer will cost between 8,30 € and 8,60 € and there’ll be a wide range to choose from - Augustiner, Paulaner, Spaten-Franziskaner, Löwenbräu, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu – and it’ll be available pretty much all day, every day of the festival.
As well as sorting out travel and accommodation, it’s also important to consider your travel money and travel insurance requirements.
Travel insurance
There’s a single trip travel insurance option which would simply cover you for the duration of your stay at Oktoberfest.
