npower has today announced it is to cut its electricity prices by 8%.

npower is the final of the major energy suppliers to cut its energy prices this year.
The npower reduction only applies to their electricity prices, not the gas.
According to npower this price cut means that customers’ electricity bills will be reduced by an average £43.
CEO of npower retail, Kevin Miles, said ‘Wholesale prices are still higher than in 2007 but we are determined to reduce prices for our electricity customers.’
If you have been with your existing energy provider for some time, or are on a standard tariff, it might be worth shopping around for a better deal. There are energy price comparison sites, including uSwitch, which help with this, enabling you to find the best supplier and tariff to meet your needs.

Over recent months, there’s been a lot of media focus on the energy industry. The brighter energy debate aims to explain the complexities of the industry and address the issues that affect us all – from energy bills to energy efficiency.
npower has taken an interesting, interactive approach to discussing energy matters and many videos on important topics are planned for release this year.
The first one is npower’s response to the questions surrounding the profits of energy companies. It is an interview with npower CEO Kevin Miles with the broadcaster Peter Snow.
