NHS dentists are increasingly difficult to find and people are being put off going to the dentist because of rising dental costs – dental insurance could help.
Tesco Dental Insurance research shows those in the South East of England are most likely to struggle to find an NHS dentist.
Worryingly, it also found over 40% of people in Britain are put off going to the dentist because of the cost of dental treatment.
Dental costs can add up, currently for example the costs of a
- Crown – on the NHS, £198 and at a private dentist, £406
- 6 month check-up – on the NHS, £16.50 and at a private dentist, £48
- Small filling – on the NHS, £45.60 and at a private dentist, £104
Head of Tesco Dental Insurance, Jeremy Sutton, said ‘Given the current economic situation many people are worried about spending money. Receiving important dental treatment is essential to overall health as well as oral health.’
He added ‘Premiums for Tesco Dental Insurance start from just £9.95 a month and can help manage the costs of dentist bills.’
Tesco Personal Finance has teamed up with AXA PPP to offer their dental insurance products.
You can get a dental insurance quote online and buy the cover there and then if you want to.
