Sky has announced it is launching it Sky Songs music download and streaming service – with others already in the market, such as iTunes, Spotify and Monkey, is the competition going to give consumers better deals?
The Sky Songs music download service will have an initial library available of over 4 million tracks.
Get Sky Broadband and if you access the site at launch you can get a FREE downloadable album worth £6.49.
You’ll be able to use the service whether or not you are a Sky customer, you simply need an active broadband connection.
There are 2 subscriptions available
- pay £6.49 and download either a £6.49 album or 10 songs, and receive unlimited access to listen to over 4 million songs online for one month
- pay £7.99 and download either a £7.99 album or 15 songs, and receive unlimited access to listen to over 4 million songs online for one month
The main 4 music labels are on board with Sky – Universal, EMI, Sony Music and Warner – along with a range of independent labels and distributors.
This Sky Songs service brings some competition to the legal music download market – already there are such as Orange with Monkey, Spotify, iTunes – maybe others will follow?
Sure as eggs are eggs though, more competition means keener prices and no doubt some great deals for consumers.
