New HSBC Student Bank account launched

HSBC has launched its 2009 Student Bank Account Service, including a flexible bank account and a package of bank services and benefits.
The HSBC Student Bank Account Service, as with those recently launched by NatWest and Lloyds TSB, offers a flexible bank account which includes, by request, an interest free overdraft facility up to a maximum of £2,000.
Other benefits and services from HSBC include
- interest on credit account balances up to £1,000 in the first year
- subject to status, further authorised borrowing is available over the interest-free overdraft limit, at an interest rate of 3% above the Bank of England base rate
- free worldwide travel insurance for 2 years subject to placing at least £250 in the Student bank account by 31 October 2009.
- optional fee-free credit card with a £500 limit
- Mobile banking
- 24/7 internet banking
- option to switch-off paper statements – ‘Go green’
- online budgeting tools
- student insurance from £25 per year
HSBC also offer a Graduate Service, including Graduate loans at competitive rates.
