According to a recent survey by moneysupermarket.com, over 75% of people are at risk of exceeding their mobile broadband data download limit and incurring extra charges.
Worryingly, around 25% don’t even know if they have a broadband download limit.
Mobile broadband, or dongle use, is increasingly popular and is a great portable way of using the internet.
If you exceed your package broadband data limit though it can be very costly.
For example O2 charge £200 per GB for exceeding it and 3 charge £100 per GB, although they disconnect the service once you’ve reached £50 in excess usage charges.
As James Parker at moneysupermarket points out ‘The most important thing is to know what type of user you are, dongles with higher limits are available for heavier users which can safeguard against exceeding the limit, but an unlimited fixed line package is the safer option for those planning to download a lot.’

Choosing a mobile broadband package or indeed any broadband package that ensures you won’t exceed the data limit is clearly financially very important.
