Combined home and mobile broadband packages are becoming more popular as consumers seek access to the Internet regardless of whether they are at home or on the move.

With a combined broadband service, Internet is delivered to the home by the standard fixed telephone line, and to the laptop using a dongle that connects to the mobile phone network.

Prior to the recent launch of combined home and mobile broadband products, consumers wanting mobile Internet access had to purchase services from two separate providers.

Consumers wanting “anywhere access” to the Internet can now benefit from lower costs as they can subscribe to combined home and mobile broadband services from the same supplier.

For example, Asif Aziz, Director of Broadband and Home for Orange states “These new offers provide flexible alternatives to meet the needs of today’s 21st century customer – who quite rightly demands a premium service at the same time as best value for money.”

Orange have recently launched their Orange Home & Mobile Broadband service which offers download speeds up to 8Mb at home and mobile download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbs with a 3GB bandwidth allowance per month.

This combined service costs £20 per month.

Other providers such as BT with their Total Broadband Anywhere package are also providing combined home and mobile broadband packages.

As consumers realise the cost benefits of this new broadband combination, we expect to see more companies entering this market sector soon.
