Lloyds TSB launches bank balance by text

Lloyds TSB, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, is the first bank to launch a bank balance ‘on demand’ service by mobile phone text message for their current account customers.

iPhone 3 GSThe new service from Lloyds, called Balance on Demand, means customers can text a message and receive a snapshot view of their bank account, including the balance, straight to their mobile phone.

Customers who use the Lloyds Mobile Banking service can use their mobile phone to keep up to date with their finances

  • check their current account balance
  • move money between their Lloyds accounts
  • check their last 6 transactions
  • receive a range of text alerts

Managing director of Consumer Banking at Lloyds Banking Group, Peter Jackson, said ‘With our range of mobile banking services we’re able to give customers the help they need to keep an eye on their accounts, and make the most of their money. And all through a mobile phone.’

To use the mobile phone text ‘Balance on Demand’ service, customers have to be signed up to the Lloyds mobile banking service and there is a £2.50 per month charge for the balance service.
