Fixed rate energy tariff ending? Take action to save money

With a number of fixed rate energy tariffs ending customers need to consider what to do next to save money.

Best energy dealTo get the best energy deal requires some action.

Whilst previously as a fixed price energy deal came to an end, the energy supplier would normally default a customer onto a standard tariff. This is no longer always the case.

As Gareth Kloet, head of utilities at Confused.com, says ‘Standard tariffs are bad enough as they are approximately 13% higher than the best online tariffs.

But Scottish Power has made their default tariff a capped one with a £50 penalty to be paid if customers try to switch at a later date.

Those whose tariffs recently matured at the end of August have until 15 October to choose another tariff, either with Scottish Power or someone else, otherwise they will be trapped.’

Taking action sooner rather than later to see if there’s a cheaper tariff to switch to is best.

Switching energy is very easy and no hassle for you as it’s the energy supplier that does the hard work – really all you see is a bill with a different supplier name on it.
