Latest figures from the Land Registry show house prices rose in June for the first time since January 2008.

House pricesHouse prices only rose by 0.1% in June so it shows more a flattening of the prices rather than anything more substantial.

Despite the rise, average house prices are still down 14% on the same time last year, at £153,046.

Average house prices in London are now down 12.5% year on year, at £301,859.

In the North East they’re down the most at 15.9%, with average prices of £106,424.

The latest figures for house sales shows a fall in April of 42% compared to April 2008 – only just over 36,000 completed house sales compared to over 62,000 in April 2008.

It still seems a long way to go before we really see improvement in the housing market.

This Government planning to hike up all Council Taxes during the worst recession we have ever encountered is also going to harm the property markets.
