Eon has just launched its FixOnline 3 tariff which undercuts the new British Gas Websaver 4 plan, to take the top best buy position.

British Gas has only just launched its WebSaver 4 discount plan, as an energy price war breaks out between suppliers, however the Eon FixOnline 3 tariff will now provide keener prices in 11 out of 14 regions for customers with an average consumption.
Eon’s tariff is fixed whereas BG’s websaver plan is a market tracker, providing a 6% discount below it’s standard prices. Customers fearing an sudden increase in fuel prices may well find a fixed price tariff more attractive.
Consumers should be aware that both the new Eon tariff and the British Gas Websaver plan carry exit penalties. In contrast, the EDF Online v5 tariff is both very competitive and does not penalise people switching away from the plan. It is available in only 10 regions though.
As Gareth Kloet, head of Utilities at Confused.com says “The message to consumers is clear – for those willing to take a few minutes to check the tariff they are on, there are pounds to save and rewards to be found.”
“The industry continues to reward the bargain hunters with bigger, better tariffs but these savings will not apply to those who remain with their stagnant original deals. There is nothing to gain from remaining loyal to your tariff and hoping for the best. It is crucial to check the whole market for the best tariff and provider for your own personal circumstances.”
With a price war breaking out between energy providers, you can find the best online energy deals for your area using comparison websites such as Confused.com or uSwitch.
