A nice view is a distraction for 75% of drivers, but be warned, a resulting collision could affect you car insurance no claims bonus, mean you have to pay an excess or you could get a careless driving conviction.
According to a survey by AA Insurance, as well as the vista beyond the car window drawing a drivers attention, some 75% of males who participated in the survey admitted that they are distracted by attractive people in other cars or on the street.
Interestingly, whether it’s a view or attractive people, men are more like to take their eye off the road and be distracted than women.
As Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, says ‘There are many distractions for the modern-day driver and most can easily adjust to them but for some drivers too much distraction could lead to a collision.
Our best advice is to stop in a safe place if you can, to look at views or other roadside features.
A collision would ruin your journey – to say nothing of having to pay an insurance excess, possible loss of your no-claim bonus and the risk of a careless driving conviction.’
