Credit cards offering rewards

Credit cards offering rewards may be fewer but there are still good deals to be had, including such as the Sainsburys credit card or BT credit card.
According to research from Sainsburys Credit Cards, the number of credit cards offering a reward scheme has fallen by over 11% in the last year.
The credit card rewards are also changing.
There’s a general move away from shopping rewards or cash back credit cards and more focus on those offering access to a points or Air Miles type scheme.
Sainsburys credit cards offer Nectar points equivalent to 2% cash back on Sainsburys purchases.
Away from supermarket credit cards, there’s the MBNA Platinum Rewards credit card which offers points for money spent on your card on food, petrol and going out.
You can apply for an MBNA Platinum Rewards credit card quickly and easily online.
Another option is the BT credit card. Using this you can earn money off your BT telephone and broadband bills – see our article ‘BT credit card review – what are the benefits?‘ for more details.
As Craig Hunter at Sainsburys Credit Cards comments ‘The recession has made a lot people reassess their finances and it’s great to see that people are starting to make the most of the rewards on offer via their credit cards.
Those with cards that offer no, or poor rewards should ensure they get the best bang for their buck and shop around to make sure any reward scheme they sign up to suits their lifestyle and spending habits best.’
Of course, you need to assess your own credit needs and determine what is right and a good deal for your own particular circumstances.
