August and September are one of the business periods for Car insurance renewals so it’s not good news that car insurance premiums are on the increase.

Car insuranceThe latest AA British Insurance Premium Index for April to June 2009, shows that comprehensive car insurance premiums are rising at 1% per month, the steepest rate since 2000.

As Hayley Parsons, Chief Executive of Gocompare.com, advises drivers ‘be very careful before accepting an insurance company’s renewal quote.

Most insurance companies don’t tell you how much your premium is going up by in their renewal letters, so people need to get online and do a quick check rather than simply renewing for another year.’

You can compare car insurance premiums quickly and easily using an insurance comparison website, such as that offered by Gocompare.com, Confused.com or moneysupermarket.com.

As Hayley adds ‘customers can still save money by shopping around to find those providers that either haven’t increased rates or are deliberately targeting certain types of driver.’
