Half a million Brits would rather go on holiday with a work colleague than their partner, new research shows.

Travel insuranceResearch conducted by Abbey shows that nearly half a million Brits would chose a work colleague rather than their partner as their ideal holiday companion.

One million would chose a celebrity to go away with, however two thirds of those in the survey did say that they would select their partner for their next holiday.

Those who have a laid back attitude appear to be the most popular holiday companion whereas the people with a tendency to moan or be argumentative are shunned the most.

These figures show that a relaxing holiday is most sort after, as those questioned placed party animals as a travel companions low on their priority list.

As well as taking a suitable companion, having suitable travel insurance and travel money will assist in the smooth running of your holiday.

This is echoed by Emma Walkley, Abbey Reward Bank Account Manager who said “As many Britons prepare to get away to enjoy the last bank holiday weekend before Christmas, they should make sure not only that they’re spending it with the right people but that if they are going abroad, they are spending their money wisely.”

“For those taking a break with their family, the travel insurance which is included in the Abbey Reward Bank Account will give them excellent cover wherever they are travelling in the world, and they could be earning 6% AER on their money while they are relaxing on the beach or exploring somewhere new.”
