British Gas has launched a new WebSaver 2 energy tariff; WebSaver 2 Gas, WebSaver 2 Electricity and WebSaver 2 Dual Fuel.

Update February 10: British Gas have now launched their new Websaver 6 energy plan. You can get all the details on the British Gas website.
This new energy tariff replaces the current WebSaver 1 tariff and it has to be said is not as good.
Both WebSaver products track the British Gas standard tariff but whereas Websaver 1 offered a 10% discount, WebSaver 2 offers a minimum discount of 6%.
The positive though is that with this new tariff British Gas offer the cheapest tariff across all 14 UK regions compared with current offerings from other energy suppliers. That’s not to say that this will be the case for long, other deals are continually being launched!
The 6% discount applies until 1 June 2010.
This tarifff is only available online and paperless billing is mandatory.
There is a £30 cancellation before 31 December 2009.
Clearly shopping around to get the best energy deals is increasingly important for customers. All of the major energy suppliers offer deals but obviously over time different ones suit different customers better.
Using one of the energy comparison websites, such as uSwitch, can make switching gas, electricty or dual fuel supplier much easier and of course help you get the best deal.
That said, switching can take the energy suppliers up to 28 days to complete. Customers therefore need to consider switching sooner rather than later to make the most of potential savings.
Some tariffs are announced and come into effect at a later date. If you are considering switching you can start the process before the launch date of such deals so that you are with the energy supplier at the date the new deal is launched and thereby can take full advantage of it.
