British Airways, Virgin and Emirates flight sale

British Airways (BA) and Virgin Atlantic have launched a massive New Year sale on the price of air tickets. Emirates are also offering some good flight deals.

British Airways

The BA sale runs through to 26 January and is for selected travel dates between January and November 2010.

Over 75 destinations are included, both long-haul and short-haul.

Long-haul destinations include New York in the USA to where tickets booked during the BA sale start from £299. This is a significant saving on a return ticket, including all taxes and charges.

There are a number of places in the Middle East, including Dubai from £325.  Into Asia and sale tickets to Singapore are from £569.

If short-haul is what you’re looking for then air tickets to Rome are in the sale at prices from £49, one-way, including all taxes and charges, and to Berlin from £69.

Virgin Atlantic – Updated 22 January 2010

The Virgin Atlantic sale has been extended and now runs through until 9 February 2010. They fly to numerous locations in the USA and their sale prices are generally around those of BA e.g. Virgin Atlantic to New York is from £299.

Emirates are also offering a number of special flight deals for tickets booked by 15 January 2010 e.g. travelling from London Heathrow to Singapore, a return economy air ticket starts at £486 for travel between 16 Jan 2010 and 15 Jul 2010.

Although air ticket sales are an annual event at this time of year, as the economic downturn bites, it seems as with retailers, airlines are having to discount harder than usual to try and win business.
